The Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of India (CPI) issued the following statement to the Press:
The Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of India calls for agitations against the restrictions of environment ministry, which imposes a ban on selling cattle to slaughter houses. This will lead to ban on availability of cattle meat to people. If cattle is not available for slaughtering how the meat is available to people.
This is interference in the authority of states, as animal husbandry comes into concurrent list. This ban is an attack on the food habits of the majority people of the nation. A government cannot interfere in the choice of the people’s food. Beef is comparatively cheaper and gives enough proteins, hence working people prefer it in all religions. This is a unwise decision. This should be withdrawn.
CPI calls upon its units to orgainse protest actions throughout the country from 3rd to 10th of June, demanding withdrawal of the notification totally.
